Composition methods: LSDJx1
- - About Brick Brker - -
Brick BRKer is a seventeen year old garbage can full of pizza that makes music on a Nintendo Game Boy, among other things.
At some time around 2011 (the exact date has been heavily repressed), high school freshman Neil Williams downloaded FL Studio from a completely legal and officially licensed website because he wanted to make the wubs like Skrillex, but he fucked it up and made bleep bloop noises instead. He uploaded them under the name Brick Breaker (because he couldn't think of anything cooler than that), slapped "8-bit" in the tags, and called it a day.
Eventually, Williams stumbled upon the group Chiptunes = WIN. He appeared on their first two volumes and the third expansion pack, ditched his computer for a Game Boy, changed his name to Brick BRKer, finally released an EP, and fell off the face of the Earth for a little while until President Hoodie issued an executive order that he make a track for Weekly Treats.

When I first encountered Brick BRKer a little before his Volume 1 submission, he was 14 years old and only beginning to experiment with LSDJ (although that didn’t stop him from making the first compilation!). Since then he’s sharpened his LSDJx1 compositional chops to a keen edge. Given to crafting addictively poppy, melodically driven chipmusic, ‘Lunar Crush’ flips the script on that, packing a potent, melancholy darkness that gives me goosebumps with their own goosebumps. As always, I remain ever curious to see what the talented artist will do next. When he’s not, you know, busy being a High Schooler.
